Using Puppets in Therapy

with Jane Gleaves

Tuesday 1st March 2016, 9:45-12:45

Jane has worked with puppets for many years as an entertainer and educator. Also a trained counsellor, she has explored their therapeutic potential with children for RELATE and adults for MIND, MENCAP and in residential homes for the elderly. She believes passionately that puppetry can prove a valuable tool in many contexts and enjoys helping others to gain confidence in using it.

This workshop will give participants the opportunity to:

  • share any previous experience of puppetry

  • handle and play with different types of puppet, discovering their various characteristics and the physical skills and mechanisms involved in using them in different ways

  • discuss their power to help clients explore and express memories and emotions and to gain control of their life experiences

  • consider the application of this to their own practice.
