Introduction to Music Therapy

As well as being an acclaimed musician in her own right, Nancy is a qualified and experienced Music Therapist. She is also an experienced educator, teaching on the Folk and Traditional Music degree course at Newcastle university and at festivals and events across the country.

Nancy will introduce the principles of music therapy and the therapeutic uses of music, helping participants to think about how they can incorporate these techniques into their own practice. This workshop will include:

  • experiential playing together;

  • discussion;

  • a short case study.

This workshop is suitable for counsellors working with adult clients, as well as those working with children. No musical skill or experience is necessary.
