In-Depth Training

We are delighted to offer a new in-depth training programme for 2017-18, providing essential skills and knowledge for counsellors and therapists who wish to specialise in work with young people aged 11-18+.

Certificate in Creative Counselling for Young People

This course takes place across five weekends between January and June 2018, providing a total of 50 hours of face-to-face training. It is open to qualified Play Therapists and counsellors of all disciplines who want to develop their skills in working with adolescent clients. A good awareness of the principles of Non-Directive Play Therapy is required, and counsellors from other disciplines will usually be asked to attend our two-day training ‘Non-Directive Play Therapy: Principles and Practice’ (or equivalent) before beginning this course.

This course fulfils the training requirements of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) for working with young people from the age of 11 years, and awaits CPD endorsement by the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT).

Full details of this course can be found here.

Cost: £1100 per participant

Non-Directive Play Therapy: Principles and Practice

This two-day training took place in October 2017, introducing participants to the fundamental features of non-directive play therapy through an interactive and intensive workshop.

Participants gave very positive feedback.

“Informative, interactive, imaginative and powerful!”
“I would definitely recommend to a friend.  It brings out the child play in you, it’s a great feeling!”

We are currently revising the format of our certificate training to ensure that it continues to meet BACP’s curriculum requirements, and hope shortly to announce dates for 2018-19.

If you would like to be kept informed of future training, please contact us with a brief message to request a place on our Training and CPD mailing list.
